It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that everything happened so fast that night on Poplar Street. I'm really thinking about the neighbors who lived around Thomas and James. Can you imagine being so close to something so tragic? They probably heard the commotion and have to live with that memory now. From what I've been reading, those living around them described some tension leading up to that evening, but this escalation is just unimaginable. It’s crucial to remember the everyday people affected by these incidents, like the neighbors who might be struggling with feelings of safety or even guilt for not being able to intervene. I can’t help but hope they find strength in their community to process this tragedy.
