I’ve been thinking a lot about how Hailey got caught in such a tragic situation. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it’s devastating for her family and friends to know she wasn't even the intended target. It frustrates me that something as seemingly secure as a shop on North Market Street could transform into such a dangerous space so quickly. The entire community must be grappling with how to feel safe in their own neighborhood after this. It makes me reflect on how quickly life can change—all it took was a few seconds of gunfire to alter everything. I hope the authorities uncover every piece of evidence they need to bring justice for Hailey and her family. If this teaches us anything, it’s that we need to be more vigilant about community safety and work towards creating environments where this kind of violence doesn’t erupt unchecked. My heart goes out to everyone who loved Hailey and to everyone who had their sense of security shattered that night.
