I’ve been following the case of Ignacio “Nacho” Garcia, and something that really struck me is how often these attacks seem to target those who are just trying to make a living. It’s so unsettling to think about how vulnerable vendors like Nacho are, out there providing for their families. He was just someone trying to go home after a long day's work, and it’s devastating that his life was cut short by such senseless violence. I can’t help but think about how this incident not only impacts his family but the whole community, who saw him as a familiar and friendly face. As more details come out, I hope there's a broader conversation about how we can better protect these integral members of our community. It’s hard not to feel a pang of anger at the way some feel entitled to use violence, robbing the community of people like Nacho. My thoughts are with his family; nobody should have to face this kind of loss.
