I can't stop thinking about how the system failed Alanna Chere Singleton. It seems like this is one of those horrible instances where the protective measures put in place just weren't enough. I've been reading up on how these protective orders, while important, sometimes give victims a false sense of security. It’s downright terrifying to know that even with the order, Paul Varnado was able to end her life so tragically. This isn't just a number or statistic; it's a real person's life that was lost. My heart goes out to her family and friends, who must be grappling with so much pain right now. It's a sobering reminder to us all that we need to find more effective ways to protect individuals in such vulnerable positions. Alanna deserved to be safe in her own home, and it's just so tragic that it ended this way.
