Hey everyone, I’ve been reading through some of the details about what happened in Baldwin Park, and it’s just so devastating for the families involved. I wanted to focus a bit on Officer Anthony Pimental, the officer who was with Samuel Riveros that night. We often hear about the heroes who fall, but those who survive such traumatic incidents carry an unimaginable weight.
Pimental was there when Riveros took his last call, and I can’t even begin to imagine what he’s going through right now. Surviving an attack like that, especially with a partner falling beside you, must be an intense and haunting memory. I hope he’s getting the support he needs from his community and department. It's crucial that we remember these responders are human and that the psychological battle doesn’t end once the physical wounds heal.
Thoughts and prayers go out to him and all the families grappling with this tragedy. Hoping justice is served, and healing can begin—for everyone involved. Stay strong!
I’ve been thinking a lot about Officer Anthony Pimental, Samuel Riveros’s partner that night. I can’t even begin to imagine the trauma he must be dealing with after witnessing such a tragedy and getting injured himself. Being there when your partner, someone you depend on and trust with your life, is taken away so suddenly must be incredibly distressing. I hope he’s getting all the support and resources he needs to heal physically and emotionally.
There’s often so much focus on the investigation, the court proceedings, and rightly so, but we should also remember the human side of this—that people like Pimental are trying to find their way back to some semblance of normalcy after such a horrific event. It was heartwarming to see the community's support at the memorial service for Riveros, but I also hope they’re also looking out for survivors like Anthony Pimental in the long term. It’s crucial he feels supported every step of the way. If anyone has updates on how he’s doing or ways we can help, please share.
