I spent this evening reflecting on the incredibly sad situation surrounding Ja-Nylen Greggs' tragic passing. A child taken too soon, simply because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This hits particularly hard for so many in the neighborhood—it really could've been any one of our kids. I was deeply touched to see the community rally together for Ja-Nylen’s vigil. The turnout showed just how much he was loved and how deeply his loss is felt. I'm hopeful that the increased patrols and the ongoing investigation will bring about justice for Ja-Nylen and his family. The arrest of Michael Hollis seems to be a step in the right direction, but it’s clear we need more people to step up with information. The urge for justice remains strong; the support from Crime Stoppers and the release of those images might just help nudge someone to come forward. If anyone here has ever been involved in similar community situations or volunteer work at vigils, how effective do you think these gatherings really are in helping investigations find closure? How can those of us close by best support Ja-Nylen’s family and ensure his memory shines through our actions?
