I came across the news about Xavion Whitlow and felt an aching empathy for his family and friends. I can’t imagine the pain they must be experiencing right now. What stood out to me is the issue around the short-term rental units. It seems like the transient nature of these setups creates an environment where things can get out of hand quickly, without the usual community oversight that might help prevent such tragedies. It might be time for the city to take a closer look at these kinds of properties, ensuring that they comply with local regulations and that there's some sort of accountability in place. But beyond that, I just wish Xavion’s family can find some peace and that we, as a community, can support them in every way possible. If anyone knows more about whether there were supposed to be permits in place or has any info that could help the investigation, please speak up. His family deserves justice, and we need to do whatever we can to help make that happen.
