Hi everyone, I’ve been following the tragic case of Mardoqueo Gamaliel Gomez Lopez, and I can't stop thinking about his journey and the life he built in LA. It’s incredible how he managed to juggle both weekday hospitality shifts and weekend landscaping jobs, clearly working tirelessly to support himself and likely his family back in Guatemala. It’s chilling to think he was just a young man, only 21, striving for a better future and already achieving so much when his life was cut short. I can't help but wonder more about his friends and how they're coping with this loss. They must have known him not only as a hardworking colleague but also as a friend and confidant. It makes me think about how close-knit work crews can become—spending so much time together, sharing stories, hopes, and dreams. Losing someone in such a violent and sudden manner, especially someone who seemed to be the glue or the heart of the group, must be devastating. Shout out to the community for stepping up in such a supportive way; it’s heartening to see neighbors and employers rally to help. If anyone has learned more about how his coworkers are handling this or if any support groups have formed around them, I’d love to hear more. It’s crucial that they have the means to heal and remember Mardoqueo for the resilient and dedicated person he was. Sending my thoughts to everyone affected.
