I've been closely following the case of Patrick Ray Shelton. One thing that's been on my mind is the role his truck played in this investigation. Finding his red 2001 Dodge Ram up there, with evidence of severe violence inside, must've been incredibly daunting for those searchers. I can't begin to imagine what it was like for Patrick's loved ones to learn about that discovery. It's heart-wrenching to think that his dog was found safe but alone in that truck, not knowing what happened to his best friend. Dogs can't tell us what they've witnessed, but I have to wonder if the presence of his dog could speak volumes in this tragic situation. For the residents of Challis, life has to feel very different now. Having this kind of violent crime rock such a tight-knit community must be really unsettling. My thoughts are with everyone close to Patrick as they wait for answers and hopefully find some resolution. The pending trial in November seems like a long way off, but I hope it will bring some closure to this horrific ordeal.
