I've been following Jesse Mathews' case for a while now, and something that consistently stands out to me is the finding of his abandoned vehicle near Bowl and Pitcher. It's such a popular spot, especially during that time of year. Was anyone ever able to confirm if someone had seen him or his car at that location on the day he disappeared? It seems odd that there were no reported sightings if it was a busy spot. Given the era, maybe there weren’t cameras around, but you’d think at least one person would remember seeing something. It makes me wonder if the location was chosen intentionally for some reason. Could the suspect have known the area well enough to know that it might be a good spot to make him disappear without anyone noticing? What does everyone else think?
Hey everyone, I’ve been reading up on Jesse Mathews' case from 1968, and one thing that really stands out to me is the location where his car was found—Bowl and Pitcher in Riverside State Park. For those who aren’t familiar with it, this place isn’t just beautiful but can be rugged and vast too.
I’m curious if anyone knows more about the history of the area around that time. Was it common for people to go missing there? I wonder how thoroughly the park was searched back in the day, considering the limitations and resources available in the late '60s.
Given this was before modern technology, it’s worrisome to think there might have been crucial details overlooked. Could there have been any structural changes or developments in the park that might have altered potential burial sites or evidence? Maybe there are old-timers around who might remember something from back in the day or sightings that seemed insignificant.
This case, like many involving Indigenous individuals, seems buried in time and red tape, but keeping these discussions alive might shed new light. Thoughts?
