I've been thinking a lot about Berhane Tewelde's case, and something that stands out to me is the location where this tragic event happened. It seems like that part of Las Vegas was already experiencing a spike in violence around 2008. Does anyone know if there were any initiatives by the community or local authorities right after his murder to address the increase in violence? I can't imagine how difficult it must be for his family and friends to cope, knowing that this might have been prevented if more attention had been given to the area's safety. It just makes me wonder about the bigger picture and if anything has changed since then.
