I’ve been reading about Anthony Jose Silveira’s case and am struck by how methodical Kraft was in his attacks. It’s deeply unsettling to think about how Anthony, like many others, became prey to a man who tracked his actions with such precision. I can’t imagine what Anthony’s final moments were like once Kraft had him in his clutches. It’s a chilling reminder of the risks hitchhikers faced back then, and my heart goes out to the family and friends who had to endure such a prolonged period of not knowing what happened to him. The discovery of his body must have been devastating, but at least they eventually found some sense of closure with Kraft’s arrest. How terrifying it must have been for young travelers out there during those years, not knowing about the evil lurking on the highways.
