I recently came across the tragic case of young Raymond Davis while reading about the series of murders attributed to Randy Kraft. It’s incredibly distressing to think about how Raymond's life was cut short in such a brutal manner. One thing I keep wondering about is why these young boys, like Raymond, might have trusted their killer. Was there some kind of deceptive tactic used, or were they simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? Considering it happened in 1982, and in a busy area like Echo Park, I can't help but think of how terrifying it must've been for the families in that community during Kraft's spree. I know that the police tied Raymond's case to Kraft's through the infamous scorecard, but it’s chilling to think of the sheer number of victims linked to Kraft and how many families’ lives were forever changed. To all of Raymond's loved ones and the families of the victims, it's important for communities like ours to keep remembering these cases, even decades later. We need to keep talking about them and hold on to hope for justice and closure for every victim and their family.

Has anyone else found it incredibly unsettling how long it took for the connection to be made between these tragic murders and Randy Kraft? I’m not blaming the investigators—hindsight is 20/20, after all—but imagining what Raymond’s family went through during that time is just so difficult. They had to endure weeks of agonizing uncertainty. It seems like the methods used in these killings were so specific that linking them to a single perpetrator should have been more immediate, but I guess the chaos and sheer number of cases made it tough. My heart truly goes out to the families and friends who were stuck waiting for closure, hoping for some kind of resolution. It makes me wonder if there might be more we could learn about the investigative process then, to address any gaps or delays they had. What are other people’s thoughts?
