I came across Joann Ward's story while reading about the Sutherland Springs tragedy, and it's just so moving how much she loved and protected her kids. Placing her body over them during such a terrifying moment truly speaks volumes about her character as a mother. I can't imagine the courage it took for her to do that. Her daughter Rhianna, at just nine years old, witnessed such bravery in her mom—how Joann's instinct was to save them first. It's a testament to what an extraordinary person she was. 'Our baby,' as her family called her, showed profound love and strength beyond measure. I'm thinking of Rhianna and Ryland, who have to carry on without their mom and sisters. If anyone knows of ways to offer support to the Ward family, please share. Such a reminder of the sometimes unseen heroes among us.
