Hey everyone,
I've been following the tragic story of Dennis Buford Hemby, and something that's been on my mind is the role of the justice system in these situations. It's incredibly frustrating to think how long the family had to wait for answers. Imagine living with that uncertainty for so many years, not knowing who did this terrible thing to your loved one, and then finding out it was at the hands of someone like Robert Willie, who was already behind bars for similar heinous acts.
The justice system seems to have gaps in addressing these kinds of repeated offenses, especially when someone like Willie was already on death row for other crimes. How do you all feel about the way these cases were handled back then, and do you think improvements have been made in more recent years to close those gaps? It's tough to think that justice for Dennis came really only due to Willie's other crimes coming to light. Thoughts?
Wishing peace to those who loved Dennis and had to live through this ordeal.
