Has anyone ever looked into the weather reports around the time Cordelia and John McMinn disappeared? I know back in the '70s, forecasting wasn't as advanced as today, but maybe there's archived information that could shed some light. Even a sudden storm or unexpected shift in conditions could have caused issues for their trimaran. It seems odd that experienced sailors like them would've run into trouble without any signs. Also, is there a chance they might have stopped somewhere before heading to Washington, like any records of unusual sightings of the *Drum* around the islands? Just curious if anyone's dug deeper into these angles.

Does anyone have any information on maritime conditions around Hawaii in May of 1976? I've recently been captivated by the disappearance of Cordelia and John McMinn. Given their sailing experience, I'm curious if any particular weather patterns or ocean currents could have posed unexpected challenges for them, especially during their planned route to Washington State. I know they were seasoned sailors, having previously completed this journey, which makes their disappearance all the more confusing. Wondering if anyone here with sailing experience around that time or region could shed some light. ??

I recently came across the case of Cordelia and John McMinn and something that struck me was the name of their boat, *Drum*. I can't find any records of significant marine incidents around that time, but I wonder if anyone has looked into maritime logs or records for vessels named *Drum* or similar? Maybe locals or sailors from the area back then might recall something about the boat or its reputation. It's such a haunting mystery, and knowing more about their trimaran's history could shed some light. Any ocean-savvy folks here have thoughts on how a boat's past might provide clues in cases like this?
