Has anyone else been thinking about how predictable routines can unfortunately make someone vulnerable? It’s so sad to think about Michael Foulk, who was just doing his job when he crossed paths with someone as dangerous as John Francis Wille. I can't even imagine the fear he must have felt. It's terrifying how someone could exploit these everyday situations for something so sinister.
Foulk’s occupation required him to interact with so many strangers, and it makes me wonder how we can protect those in similar jobs today. Back in 1985, the world seemed like a different place, but hazards were very real then, just as they are now. It's this part of the story that sticks with me—the vulnerability of just being at work.
I hope Michael's family and friends have found some peace, even with the justice system's complexities keeping them from seeing a formal conviction for his case. The fact that Wille could travel and commit these crimes across multiple states feels like such a failure in being able to prevent further loss after Michael. Let's remember that these victims were loved ones, not just names in a file.
