It's always puzzled me how an experienced pilot like John could have veered so off course, even under poor weather conditions. It's frustrating that they didn't file a flight plan, but I guess back then, not everyone did, especially for short trips. I've been thinking a lot about the possibility they got turned around near Lansing. With all the highways, it's so easy to get mixed up, especially when you're relying on visual navigation. Charlotte is near a major highway intersection, so if they did stop there, maybe that was the point they got disoriented. What's really intriguing to me is the idea that they were seen at an airstrip but didn't refuel. What if they were trying to make it to another nearby strip to top off? Could they have misjudged the distance? I keep hoping some piece of the puzzle will show up, even all these years later. Each new hunting season, I find myself wondering if someone will find something and finally bring some closure to the whole situation.

I was reading about the disappearance of Jean and John Block, and something caught my attention. Can we talk about the potential sighting of their plane near the Charlotte airstrip? It's puzzling that the eyewitness report placed the Blocks' aircraft there, yet they didn't refuel. Given the small range of a Cessna, they couldn't have gone much further, right? This sighting seems like such a crucial piece of the puzzle to me. Has anyone considered if there might be another airstrip nearby where they could have tried to land? Or maybe they were trying to make it closer to their destination on the remaining fuel, thinking they could make it without stopping? Makes you wonder if there are areas in between that have been overlooked in searches. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for their family that someone stumbles across something that can finally bring them some closure.

Has anyone here heard any updates about the Jean and John Block case? I was reading about their disappearance back in '77 and it's been haunting me. What's baffling is how a plane just vanishes and no remnants have turned up, especially since they were last potentially spotted near Charlotte. It got me wondering about the impact of weather on those older Cessna models—especially when combining visual navigation with how quickly conditions can change. Has anyone in the community had similar experiences with flight navigation gone awry, or maybe insights into how such outdated technology could have contributed to their mysterious fate? Curious to hear anyone’s thoughts on the matter or if any breakthroughs have come through in recent times.
