I am Mike’s sister. I stumbled upon this site while searching news or updates on him. I had no intention of commenting, but I had to after I glanced at the list of “sources” under his name.
I should preface this by saying how moved I am to see that total strangers were adding comments to try and help our family find him, along with countless others who are missing. It is beyond inspiring.

Now, as for the facts and what compelled me to write this post. There are several “sources” listed below his profile on this site. One is a link to a news story about a criminal. The worst kind. For the record, that man is NOT my brother. Different Michael Daly. I would hope the site admins would do more to vet such a damaging article and in this case it takes only takes a brief fact check to verify a few basic but important pieces of information:
-They have two different middle names (my brother is Michael J Daly, other guy is P)
-They live in different cities
-There is a 5 to 6 year age difference between them.

Basics. All found in the first few sentences of that news article that was posted. So - please, if anyone knows how to remove that link and quickly, please pass it along or respond to this post because I tried filling out the correction form on my this site and got nowhere.

One more quick clarification - another source listed on this page is a link to a funeral announcement, also for a man who is not my brother. That article references a gentleman also of the same name, who notably served our country and was buried honorably near Rochester, NY. Perhaps an easier oversight to make, especially because my brother Mike also served. He was 82nd Airborne. However - our Mike has not yet been buried, as he has not yet been recovered.

If you’ve read this far into my lengthy and at times emotional response, thank you. Most people in my life would tell me this post was a waste of time and i shouldn’t get worked up about it. But I think most people would have a strong reaction to seeing the name of their missing sibling (or any loved one) be misrepresented in such a significant and damaging way. It may just be one blip on a single website but the internet is forever… and as of right now, this page is one of the most recent things that have publicly written or updated about him. So I hope by sharing this it will give people a moment of pause in the future when they are receiving or sharing information about someone, especially a missing person. Please share with the people who are responsible for removing these incorrect links if you know how.

And if not, I’d like to think Mike would be happy and relieved (and maybe proud) his little sister tried to set the record straight for him.

So sorry to hear about your brother and best wishes on him returning home safely.

How did you contact them to fix the sources? I use them for resources quite often and I have reported errors in the past and I don't think I've ever waited more than a day for a response. I have sent a ticket in on your behalf so hopefully they fix the article source links but for future cases you can either click the contact us link to send a ticket or on the actual case page you can click the provide case information and in that popup under description you can list the errors.

I know it seems simple like you said but IDK how many people they have working there and when they are managing over 200k cases it's probably hard to read each article. Not making excuses for them but at least they are doing the work that nobody else is really doing on this site.

Has anyone heard anything new about Michael Daly's case in Rochester? It's odd how someone can just vanish without a trace, especially in this day and age. Hey all, I've been following the case of Michael Daly from Rochester, and something that's been picking at me is the date of his disappearance, January 25, 2024.
