It's so tragic to hear about the circumstances surrounding Anita Fishman Breier's murder. The fact that she struggled with addiction and homelessness makes her story all too common and yet so profoundly sad. I can't help but think about how vulnerable she was and how those vulnerabilities put her in harm's way. It seems like the system failed her and so many others who found themselves in similar situations during that time. What really stands out to me is how the authorities were able to finally connect the dots through DNA evidence years later. It's a sobering reminder of the advances in forensic science and how crucial it is in holding perpetrators accountable. I truly hope that her family found some measure of solace knowing that her murderer was finally brought to justice. It's chilling to think about how these patterns of violence persisted because so many crimes went unsolved for so long. Anita and the other women deserve to be remembered not just as victims, but as individuals who were failed by societal structures. My heart goes out to everyone affected by these senseless tragedies.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the families of Chester Turner's victims, especially Anita Fishman Breier’s loved ones. It’s haunting to imagine the sheer pain they must have endured for years not knowing who was responsible for such a horrific act. When I found out that Anita was originally from New York and had moved to California, I wondered what dreams she might have had when she made that transition. It’s saddening to think that someone in such a vulnerable position, struggling with addiction and without stable housing, could be targeted in such a brutal way. It must have been terrifying to know that so many women in the same situation were being preyed upon by Turner. Knowing that her case was unresolved for so long, I can only hope that the eventual conviction provided some sort of peace for her family and friends. Does anyone else feel like more should have been done to protect women like Anita during that time? Her story is a chilling reminder of how crucial it is to support and protect the vulnerable members of our communities. Rest in peace, Anita. You deserved so much more.
