I still can't wrap my head around how Shannon Lloyd's case stayed unresolved for so long. I think about her roommate and the shock they must have experienced upon finding her that morning. That’s something nobody should ever have to endure, losing a friend in such a way. The relief of a breakthrough in 2021, even if it came too late to bring Reuben J. Smith to justice, must be bittersweet. It's a reminder of how important continued advancements in forensic science are. I hope Shannon’s family and friends find some semblance of closure knowing that her case has finally been resolved. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved her. Does anyone know if there are resources available for families and friends dealing with cold cases, even years later?
I've been thinking a lot about Shannon Rose Lloyd's roommate, who found her after that terrible day in May 1987. I can't imagine the trauma and heartache they had to face upon discovering what happened. Just living with those memories and the "what-ifs" must be incredibly painful. The thought of going through years without any answers must have been unbearable.
Being part of a case that goes cold is hard not just for the victim's family but also for friends and those who lived with them. The eventual revelation about Reuben J. Smith likely offered some closure, but it's such a tragedy that justice couldn't be served during his lifetime. Smith's death means no real legal closure, and the surviving roommate and Shannon's loved ones are left to cope with the emotional weight on their own.
If anyone has similar experiences or knows how friends and roommates of victims often cope in these situations, I'd be truly interested in your insights or advice. It's important to remember the impact on everyone involved, not just immediate family members.
