Reading about the Torgerson case really got to me, especially thinking about young John David and the brief time he had in this world. Something that's been on my mind is how the system repeatedly failed to keep people like David James Torgerson from causing harm. Despite his clear history of violent behavior, he was released back into society. It's unsettling to know that individuals with known mental health issues and violent tendencies can slip through the cracks like this. It makes me wonder, could anything have been done differently back then to prevent this tragedy? With all the red flags in David’s history, how could the signs have been ignored? My heart goes out to John David’s family and the families of all the victims who had to endure this unfathomable loss. No one should have to go through something so devastating.
