Hey everyone, I've been following the Julie Mehrman case, and there's something that's been on my mind that I can't shake. I keep thinking about the time it took for investigators to focus on David Torgerson as a suspect. I know that Julie's murder happened in 1969, but it wasn't until after his 1970 conviction for an unrelated crime that the authorities really zeroed in on him for Julie's case and others. It makes me wonder about the resources and methods available to law enforcement back in the late '60s. Given Torgerson's history—especially his psychiatric records and past incidents—it's frustrating to think about how those might have been red flags earlier on. And yet, at the same time, I understand that the standards and practices were so different back then. It's like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces. Julie deserved justice, and I genuinely feel for her family and those who cared about her, enduring all those years without answers. Even with Torgerson's confession, which somehow offers a bit of closure, I imagine it never felt complete because there was no trial or formal conviction. What does everyone else think? Could something have been done sooner, or was this just an example of the limitations of the time? Let me know your thoughts. Sending strength to all those who've been impacted by unresolved cases like Julie's.
