Did anyone else notice how much Lilian Kramer's murder highlighted the vulnerabilities of elderly women living alone during that era? It's so tragic to think about how fear must have gripped her and others like her, even in their own homes. The fact that these horrific crimes were linked to John Floyd Thomas Jr. only underscores the importance of community vigilance and better protection for vulnerable individuals. It must have been incredibly difficult for Lilian's family to live with not only the horror of her death but also the uncertainty before Thomas's arrest so many years later. While it's a relief that he was finally identified, it's unfortunate that many families like Lilian's never saw a direct conviction or felt complete closure. My thoughts go out to all those families still impacted by this brutal series of events.
