I've been following the case of Rose Lederman, and something that's really been sticking with me is how close the community services were to her home. It just seems so sad that even though she lived near a rehabilitation center—which should be a place of safety and renewal—it became connected in a way to this terrible crime through the suspect attending there. It's unnerving to think about how their paths might have crossed around the neighborhood. I can't imagine the fear these crimes must have inspired in the community, especially among the elderly residents like Rose who deserved to feel safe in their own homes. This close proximity and the betrayal of trust make it all the more chilling. I hope the families of the victims find some peace, knowing that he was caught and justice was served.
I've been following the Rose Lederman case and the disturbing crimes committed in the early '80s around East Hollywood and Silver Lake. It's really difficult to comprehend the fear that must have gripped the community, especially among the elderly. The most unsettling aspect is how Brandon Tholmer was able to roam free after his initial offenses, despite his clear history of violence. It makes me wonder about the system's role in this tragedy. How many lives might have been saved if his supervision had been stricter?
Rose was one of the first to fall victim to this horrible spree. Imagine being in a neighborhood where someone is targeting the elderly, the most vulnerable among us. My thoughts go out to her family and everyone who lived through that time of terror. It's a bittersweet relief that Tholmer was eventually caught and convicted, but that doesn’t erase the pain and loss experienced by Rose's loved ones and the community at large.
