I’ve been digging into the infamous Surratt case after hearing about his 2021 confession, and something that stands out to me is how he was linked to other murders through fingerprints. It’s chilling to think how many cases might have been solved sooner if technology back then was like today. The Mills and Krueger murders being tied together through such forensic methods highlight how critical even the smallest piece of evidence can be. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain the families went through, waiting decades for answers. It's a sobering reminder of how far we've come with forensics, yet also how terrifyingly adept some criminals were at evading capture for years. My thoughts are with the families as they finally have the chance at some closure, even if justice feels incomplete.
