I recently came across this tragic story about Michael Mansfield and couldn't help but think about how brave he must have been. It takes a lot of courage for a 19-year-old to stand up and testify, knowing the kind of dangers that might bring, especially against someone with a reputation like Russell Smrekar's. Even though Michael never got the chance to speak in court, his decision to testify speaks volumes about his character. I feel so deeply for his family, who had to endure decades not knowing what happened to their son and brother. It's devastating that Smrekar’s confession came so late, leaving them with unanswered questions and no chance for justice in court. My heart goes out to them, and I hope they know that Michael’s bravery continues to be recognized by those who hear his story.
