I came across the case of Elizabeth Ortega and it struck me how powerful DNA technology can be. It took over three decades, but they were finally able to identify Ray Dell Sims as her murderer. This case hits hard, especially knowing that Elizabeth's family waited so long for answers. Her mother, Ramona, must have gone through unimaginable pain, and I can't help but feel a sense of relief for her now that some form of justice has been achieved. What also stands out to me is how Sims was already in prison for another murder. It makes me wonder how many more young lives he might have ruined if he hadn't been caught back then. Does anyone know if there are procedures now that could prevent such repeat offenders from evading justice for so long? Knowing what Ramona has gone through, I really hope modern technology can make sure no family has to endure such a wait ever again.
