I’ve been digging through the details of Cheryl Potter Boyd’s tragic case, and I can't shake the feeling of how surreal it must have been for her brother, witnessing everything unfold. It’s mind-boggling to think that Cheryl was about to just have what seemed like a regular day, going to the post office, and then her life was altered in such a horrific way. Her brother's account is so chilling, the idea of being so close to someone you love, only for them to be torn away by violence, resonates deeply.
What stands out to me is just how quickly everything transpired—from her abduction, to the bank robbery, to the unspeakable conclusion behind the shopping center. It’s mixed-up how Shrader, someone supposed to be serving and protecting as a corpsman, could betray that duty so cruelly. It’s difficult to fathom the lasting impact this has had on Cheryl's family and friends. I genuinely hope they have found some measure of peace, even if justice came late. Would love to hear others’ thoughts on how Cheryl’s community might have coped with such a devastating loss at that time.
