I’ve been revisiting the tragic case of Franny Brown and her murder as one of Arthur Shawcross' victims. It makes me wonder about the changes in parole regulations after his arrest. It’s appalling to think that Shawcross was able to reoffend after being released from prison. Knowing that changes were made in monitoring violent offenders is somewhat comforting, but it's frustrating knowing it took such devastating losses for these actions to happen. Franny, and all the victims, deserved so much better. To Franny's friends and family, I hope you feel a measure of peace knowing these legal adjustments might prevent similar tragedies in the future. It’s a small solace, but hopefully her story helped pave the way for needed reforms. Sending thoughts of strength to everyone who loved her.
