It’s truly upsetting to think about what Susan Poole’s family went through during those long years without any answers. I recently learned that Susan was only 15 and had dropped out of high school, often found near Fort Lauderdale. I can't help but wonder—what drew her to that area? Did she know someone who might have influenced or helped her? There's something intriguing about the places she frequented and the people she might have met around that time. It's a real shame that nobody knew where she went that night. If anyone has memories or insights into that period, even the smallest detail about Susan’s circle could be invaluable for those still trying to piece together what happened. It’s a little solace knowing advancements in DNA finally identified her remains, but I hope that someday there will be full justice and answers for Susan and her family.
I recently came across Susan Poole’s case, and I can’t stop thinking about how her family must have felt during those years she was missing. Imagine waiting decades for any form of closure, only to discover that your loved one was a victim of such a vile crime. I read about the connection to Gerard Schaefer, and it sent shivers down my spine. The way he treated his victims is beyond comprehension. It’s disturbing that he might be linked to Susan’s murder, given the similarities in his MO and the crime scene.
I’m curious if anyone else has looked into Schaefer’s other known or suspected crimes and found any more overlaps with Susan’s life? Her going missing just before Christmas must have been so traumatic for her friends and family, and it makes me wonder if someone in her circle noticed anything suspicious around that time but didn’t recognize its significance. Cases like these remind me of the importance of community and keeping a vigilant eye; sometimes seemingly insignificant details can be crucial.
I hope her family finds some peace in the answers they have now, and I genuinely hope more light can be shed on this case so they can have full closure someday.
