Has anyone else looked into the similarities between April Dawn Buttram and Keli McGinness? I find it haunting how Ridgway confused the two due to their similar physiques. It seems like such a small detail, but it speaks volumes about how dehumanizing his crimes were. For the families, this confusion must have been another layer of pain and uncertainty. Imagine waiting decades for answers about a loved one, only for the remains to be initially misidentified. It's chilling how these lives were reduced to just descriptions in Ridgway's mind. My heart goes out to the Buttram family and all those affected by his horrific acts—it's a somber reminder of why these cases still matter decades later.
I’ve recently been reading about April Dawn Buttram’s case, and one thing that struck me was how young and vibrant she must've been at 17. It's awful to think about her mother going through those years without knowing what happened to her. Seattle in the early '80s must've been such a different place, yet stories like April's show how danger was lurking. It’s chilling that Ridgway managed to evade capture for so long and heartbreaking that April's life was cut so short. Her story really brings a human element to the statistics we often hear about Ridgway's victims. I hope sharing her story keeps her memory alive and reminds us to be aware of the vulnerable people in our society. Sending love to her family and friends who lived with uncertainty for so long.
