I've been thinking about Tina Marie Thompson's case and the sad reality of how vulnerable people can slip through the cracks. It's troubling to learn that she wasn't even reported missing. Why was that? Did she not have family or friends who were aware of her vanishing, or were they just not able to report it for some reason?
It makes me wonder about the social circles in which some of these women moved and whether systemic issues prevented them from being noticed when disappearing. She's not the only one on Ridgway’s list who went unnoticed for too long. The fact that she was later linked to the Green River cases highlights the tragic overlap between societal neglect and these horrific crimes.
I think we need to reflect on how we can better support and protect individuals in vulnerable situations. It breaks my heart to think about how long it took for her to be identified and returned to her rightful name. I hope she and the others are never forgotten and that we continue advocating for change to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
I’ve been thinking about how Tina Marie Thompson wasn't reported missing after she vanished in 1983. It makes me wonder how many other victims like her were lost in the cracks because of the stigma often attached to their lifestyle choices. As a young woman, just 22, she was likely facing numerous challenges, and I feel for her family who might not have known her circumstances at the time. It’s incredibly sad that it took so long before she was identified and given a name beyond Jane Doe B-14. It shows how important it is for society to see the human beyond the labels and to recognize that every missing person deserves attention, regardless of their situation. My heart goes out to Tina’s loved ones and the families of the other victims who had to endure such a painful and long wait for answers.
