Has anyone else been thinking about how Rena Mae Payne’s case emphasizes the importance of advancements in forensic technology? It's devastating what happened to her, and it chills me to think how easily her murder could have remained unsolved if it weren’t for those DNA profiling advancements nearly two decades later. I can’t imagine the pain her family went through all those years. Just goes to show how critical it is for law enforcement to continually improve and utilize new technology for justice. It’s a bit of a silver lining that this technology helped put a dangerous man behind bars, but it must be so difficult for those who loved Rena to live with the fact that justice took so long. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. Does anyone know if this case has encouraged any changes in policy for cold case investigations?
