Reading about Derek Anderson's case, I keep coming back to his last moments and the impact on those who cared about him. Hearing that call Joe made to Derek’s mom’s phone, only to find out something terrible had happened, must have been absolutely terrifying and overwhelming. I can only imagine the fear and helplessness Joe felt during those moments before he rushed back to find everything changed forever. It’s just so sad to think that a regular night turned into such a tragic loss for Derek’s mom and his friends. Just thinking of his family, his mom especially, and what they went through during those early hours breaks my spirit. The courage of those who testified, like Ashley Price, probably helped bring some justice, but it’s still a heavy reminder of the senselessness that violence brings. Hoping Derek's loved ones have found some peace as the years have passed, even though their lives will never be the same.

Her decision to come forward likely wasn’t an easy one, but her testimony provided crucial information about the motive and context behind Derek Anderson's tragic murder. It’s people like her who, despite the risks and fears, choose to stand up for justice and truth. My thoughts are with Derek’s family and friends as they continue to deal with their unimaginable loss, but also with witnesses who play such pivotal roles in seeking justice.
