I've been thinking about the circumstances around Shanteria Davis's tragic death and how easily her murderer initially spun a narrative about a drug overdose. It makes you wonder how often stories like this are quickly accepted without deeper investigation. I'm so relieved that ultimately, justice was served and Morris's heinous acts were exposed, but it's unsettling to consider the challenges faced by victims in vulnerable situations. They deserve protection and advocacy. My heart goes out to Shanteria's family and loved ones, who had to endure not only her loss but also the initial misleading information about what happened to her. It's a reminder of why it's crucial for law enforcement to dig deeper, especially in cases involving marginalized communities. How many more might still be out there, unnoticed and unreported, because no one looked closer?
