I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the impact Raymon "RJ" Cruz had on his community. So many of the posts and articles focus on the tragic details of that night, but reading about who RJ was as a person has been both enlightening and incredibly moving. He was preparing for an exciting future, having been accepted into the Universal Technical Institute, which is no small feat. Based on this alone, it seems like he was determined and driven, someone who knew what he wanted to achieve. I've also read stories about how he was a positive presence in his community and brought joy to those around him. The way his friends and family describe him paints a picture of a young man who was both free-spirited and deeply caring—a rarity in any community. While it’s essential to talk about firearm safety and how these tragic accidents happen, it's equally important to remember the essence of the person we lost. RJ deserves to be remembered for more than just the circumstances of that fateful evening. My heart goes out to his family and everyone else affected by this immense loss.
