I've been following the tragic case of John Andrew Childs and his family, and something that stood out to me was how this awful event took place right after they had spent time together for the holidays. It really hits home thinking about how vulnerable we all are in moments that should be filled with love and joy. How could Darius Seay have been on the streets just hours after an assault charge? It seems like such a glaring failure in the system. Why wasn't there more done to prevent such a tragedy after his release? My heart goes out to the Childs family, especially the young boy who now faces a future without his mother. I hope there will be changes in how such cases are handled to prevent another horrific event like this from happening again.
