Daniel William Southers, 25, of Fort Bragg, California, was last seen on September 17, 1987. He left his residence about 9:30 AM that morning and did not contact family; his mother and girlfriend reported him missing on September 24. Southers is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall, about 250 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He had visible scars on his abdomen and elbows and had healed fractures to his right arm, left leg, and nose.

At the time he disappeared Southers was believed to be involved in illegal marijuana cultivation, and authorities have long considered a possible drug-related motive. No concrete leads have emerged, and the case remains unsolved. Dental records, DNA and fingerprints are on file but have not produced a match.

Anyone who knew Southers, his routines, associates, or movements around mid-September 1987 is asked to contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office with any information that might help bring closure.
