I can’t stop thinking about little Jamarion and how his story has touched so many of us. The fact that he was just playing outside, doing what kids do, and then to be caught up in such senseless violence—it truly hits hard. What really gets me is the outpouring of support from the Orange Mound community. It’s uplifting to see how everyone has come together to support Jamarion’s family, from the vigil to setting up the fundraiser. But it also makes me think about how often these types of tragedies happen and how they fade from the news, while families are left to put the pieces back together. If anyone out there has access to surveillance cameras or even heard something that day, it might be the piece of the puzzle the police need. We need more eyes and ears to step forward. Jamarion’s family deserves answers and some sense of justice for their little boy. My thoughts are with his family as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to demand better for our communities.
