It's really unsettling to think about how close to home this tragedy happened. I live not too far from Wayne Street and often walk my dog around Lake Johnson. It's such a peaceful neighborhood—hard to reconcile that with the violence that ended Jayquan's life. My heart goes out to his family and friends right now. I can't even imagine the pain they are feeling. I keep thinking about how essential the community's role could be in solving cases like this. Perhaps someone has seen or heard something that could be vital to the investigation. Even the smallest piece of information might help bring some clarity to a senseless act. It's so important that people feel safe coming forward if they know anything. I'm hoping that the Raleigh PD can make some headway soon; they must have been working tirelessly to figure out what happened that night. If anybody has seen or heard anything, even if it seems insignificant, please consider reaching out to law enforcement. It might be the key to finding some justice for Jayquan.
