Does anyone else find it odd how differing the character testimonies about Aaron are compared to the claims of self-defense? I’ve been reading through some posts and talking to folks around Santa Fe, and it seems Aaron was universally remembered as a kind and gentle soul. He loved chess and was known for his peaceable nature. It just doesn’t add up with the story being told by Leonel. I know Aaron had his struggles, particularly with alcohol, but his friends and family repeatedly say he was trying to turn things around. It’s so tragic that this happened after he put in so much effort to get sober. I feel for his family, especially his mom, Emily—what a horrible thing to go through. Has anyone else in town heard anything different about that night, or are people mostly aligning with Aaron’s friends’ perspective? Just trying to understand how such a beloved member of our community is suddenly gone, leaving us with so many unanswered questions.
