Seeing the news about Avion Gregory Donell Donelson has been weighing on my heart. I can't shake the thought that this young man had his whole life ahead of him, and now that potential has been stolen away. My thoughts are with Avion’s family and friends; I can't imagine the pain they are going through. I noticed that Avion's tragic passing coincided with Jackson's "100 Days of Action" initiative. It's sad irony that just as the community was rallying to combat youth violence, we lost another young soul. It's encouraging to see local organizations trying to make a difference, but days like these remind me of how much work there is still to do. If anything positive can come out of this senseless act, I hope it's a renewed commitment from all of us to keep pushing for change. Stay strong, Jackson. Let's not allow Avion's death to be in vain.
