I'm really struggling to wrap my head around the loss of Jackie Jo Torrez. From everything I've read and heard, she was such an incredible soul who touched so many lives. I came across her story while following updates about domestic violence awareness, and it feels personal, even though I never had the privilege of knowing her. What stands out to me is her deep love for her community and her daughter, Mila Jo. It’s so apparent she was a person who gave so much of herself to others, whether through her work as a social worker or her involvement at the Moose Lodge and St. Luke's. Remembering her for her compassion and strength gives me hope that her efforts made a lasting impact, despite how her life ended. I think we sometimes underestimate how pervasive and destructive domestic violence can be. Jackie’s story is a sobering reminder of that. In the face of this tragedy, I hope more conversations arise around preventing such losses and supporting those in vulnerable situations. If anyone else is feeling this loss deeply or wants to commemorate her legacy somehow, perhaps pooling together resources for domestic violence victims could be one meaningful way to honor her memory. Sending every bit of love and strength to Jackie's family and little Mila during this unimaginably difficult time. ?

I can't stop thinking about the little girl who was found unharmed at the scene of Jackie Jo Torrez's murder. From everything I've read, Jackie was an amazing mother to her daughter Mila Jo. It breaks my heart to imagine the confusion and sadness this little one must be experiencing, losing her mom in such a traumatic way. I hope she has all the love and support from family, and I truly hope that therapy and counseling services are offered to help her navigate this difficult time. It's such a poignant reminder of the innocent lives affected by domestic violence. I hope we can all continue to raise awareness and support for victims, and, most importantly, break the cycle of violence. Sending love and strength to Jackie’s family and her precious daughter.
