I'm so sorry for what Gilbert's family is going through. Another senseless act of violence has left a family shattered and a community on edge. I can't begin to imagine the fear and pain his girlfriend and those kids felt being so close to the chaos. It’s alarming how easily these shooters discharged their weapons without regard for anyone else around. How did we get to a point where it becomes routine to put lives in such danger, and why does it take a tragedy like this for us to call for change? Minneapolis is a beautiful city, but the rise in gun violence lately is terrifying. I'm holding Gilbert's loved ones in my thoughts, hoping justice will be served swiftly and efficiently. It’s little comfort to his family now, but change needs to start somewhere to honor Tiago’s life and ensure safety for everyone.
I can't stop thinking about the dangerous situation Gilbert's girlfriend and those two young kids were in during the shooting. I mean, can you imagine the sheer terror of trying to protect your children in such a life-threatening moment? It's a miracle they weren't physically harmed, but the emotional scars from witnessing such violence will take time to heal. My heart goes out to them. Not only did they lose a loving partner and father figure, but they also experienced a trauma that no one, let alone children, should ever have to go through. I hope the community rallies around them, offering support and resources to help them cope with this devastating loss. We really need to keep these families in our thoughts as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.
