I can't stop thinking about the role mental health played in this overwhelming tragedy. It's just so devastating that the signs were there, yet nothing was done to prevent this. I mean, James Davis III had been showing erratic behavior for who knows how long, and still had access to firearms? This case really highlights the need for a serious conversation about mental health services and firearms access. It’s heartbreaking to think that Christine Smith was just trying to help her son, probably hoping a drive home might calm him. It only adds to the pain knowing how deeply families can unknowingly get wrapped into these situations. My thoughts are with Christine's family and everyone affected by this senseless act. I hope it brings attention to the gaps in our system that allowed this to happen.
