I’ve been thinking a lot about how the Algiers community might be feeling right now. You can’t imagine the kind of pain Leelani’s family is going through, and my heart goes out to them. This whole situation is just beyond comprehension. I want to talk about the location of where this tragedy happened. Lawrence Street isn’t some isolated area, it’s a neighborhood where families live, kids play, and people hope they’re safe. It’s been frustrating watching neighborhood after neighborhood get torn apart by violence. It raises a question—how can we protect our communities better? The fact that Evans Rogers was out on the streets even after a history of violent behavior is disturbing. I think this isn’t just about one person but about a system that keeps failing our communities. We need solutions that focus on both prevention and rehabilitation if we’re ever going to stop this cycle. Sending love and strength to everyone in Algiers during this unimaginably difficult time. ?

Just got off the phone with a friend from Algiers, and we can't stop thinking about how things like this keep happening. I can't believe Leelani Brooks's community is facing yet another tragedy. It feels like every time we're taking a step forward with initiatives for safer neighborhoods, something drags us right back. I'm curious about what actions are being taken to keep kids safe in neighborhoods like Algiers. It’s hard not to be frustrated knowing that Evans Rogers had a previous record and was still out there. How do we balance second chances for young offenders with the safety of our communities? If anyone has insights on preventative measures that are actually making a difference, please share. If nothing else, maybe Leelani's story will propel some much-needed change. My heart goes out to the Brooks family and everyone who knew Leelani. I hope justice is served, but more importantly, I hope it leads to meaningful changes to prevent these tragedies in the future.
