I've been following the case of Royal R. Brown and it's truly difficult not to feel deeply troubled by how easily lives are lost to gun violence in Chicago. What strikes me is the resilience Brown showed—despite being severely injured, he somehow managed to get himself to Mount Sinai Hospital. That speaks volumes about his will to live and just makes the tragedy all the more poignant. It’s concerning how these shootings continue to occur in the South Austin area, and yet we have so little information about who’s behind them or why they happen. I can't help but feel for his family and friends who must be grappling not only with their grief but also with the lack of answers and justice. I really hope someone comes forward soon with some information. If we're ever going to make our communities safer, it has to start with people speaking up and supporting each other. Sending strength and love to all those who knew and cared for Royal.
