Hey everyone, I've been following Etienne Burns' case closely, and something that's been on my mind is the role of community spaces in neighborhood safety. It seems like having more youth centers or programs where kids can hang out safely might help prevent some of the violence we're seeing. It's so easy for young people to get caught up in dangerous situations when there's nowhere else to go and nothing constructive to do. I read that after Etienne's death, there was a huge push from the community to identify and address the underlying issues leading to this kind of violence. Do you all think increasing access to safe spaces could make a real difference? Maybe this tragedy could inspire local leaders to invest in these types of initiatives. It's painful to see families like Etienne's go through such loss. His loved ones deserve answers, but they also need the peace of mind that something like this won't happen to someone else's child. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and our entire community. Just hoping for change before it's too late for more kids. Love to hear your thoughts or any info you've come across about community efforts since this tragedy. Stay safe, everyone.

Has anyone else been following the response from the community after the tragic events of that weekend in North Omaha? I've been really touched by how people have come together. The candlelight vigil for Etienne Burns was incredibly moving. It’s inspiring to see so many people unite to call for peace and work towards creating a safer environment for the kids in our neighborhoods. Though I can't imagine the pain Etienne's family is going through, I hope they feel the love and support around them. Does anyone know if there have been any updates on the initiatives started in his memory? I truly wish these efforts bring lasting change.
