I’ve been following the case of Julie Cruz and her children, and I can’t shake the stories shared by teachers about Xion, Nova, and Emery. It’s absolutely devastating to hear how much joy and light they brought into their classrooms. Teachers spoke about Xion as being an enthusiastic learner who was always ready to help others, while Nova and Emery were just starting to show their bright personalities in preschool. The ripple effect on the community, especially on those who knew the kids, must be incredibly tough. My heart goes out to the educators who’ve lost these precious students and to everyone else affected. As we talk about what happened, we should not only keep the family in our thoughts but also work toward ensuring such tragedies become less frequent. If anyone knows of ways to support the teachers and classmates who are grieving, please share.
